Too often, we normalize harm simply because it happens all around us. We hide it behind familiar phrases—“Emoni hoy” (that’s just how it is), “It’s our tradition,” or “That’s just how our culture works.”

But let’s be clear: social rules, age-old traditions, or cultural expectations are never justifiable reasons for cruelty. Harm does not become acceptable just because it is common.
